What are we looking for? We are currently looking for an apprentice Formworker working on sites around the U.K. What is Formwork? Formwork is the process of producing temporary or permanent moulds and shuttering from timber for concrete to be poured into, which allows the concrete to be formed to the correct dimensions and to support it until it can support itself. Formwork is used in the entire infrastructure, from constructing roads, rail, bridges and underground structures to high-rise concrete buildings. A formworker contributes to the construction of projects through the preparation, installation and quality management of all stages of the formwork process. As a formworker, you’ll also assist in the preparation of falsework (providing temporary support structures for forms) and also undertake formwork. What will your typical day look like? Forming timber to the correct requirements and shape or cutting materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. Assembling and fastening materials to make framework, falsework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails or pins. Building, repairing and assembling formworks and falsework structures. Following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Interpreting verbal and written instructions and information. Working safely at heights What sort of candidate are you looking for - Ability to use initiative. - Willingness to learn. - Punctual. - Keen to progress into a long-term career in the trade. - Enjoy and be able to work with others as well as independently. - Highly motivated. - Strong work ethic. Essential qualities: - Good Maths and English skills are required. The ideal candidate will need to enjoy being part of a team and possess good communication skills. The successful candidate will ideally have: - Previous training with power tools. - A good head for heights. - The willingness to work outdoors in all weathers. - Good degree of physical fitness. Desirable qualities The ideal candidate must be willing to get dirty with a driven and focused approach. You must be hard-working and dedicated to completing this qualification. Construction workers tend to start early in the morning, the ability to independently get to site is a must, however it is not essential that you drive. Previous experience using power tools would be an advantage. Qualifications Required CSCS Card - support will be given in obtaining this.
